I’m Ashley Hutchinson, a National Board Certified educator and College Board–endorsed consultant for AP Seminar and AP English Language and Composition. With more than 20 years in education, I’ve taught every level of high school English, from foundational and remedial courses to Advanced Placement, and I’ve spent the last few years helping teachers make rigorous instruction both accessible and engaging for every student.
Over the past decade, I’ve been an AP Exam Reader and Table Leader, and I have facilitated more than 40 AP Summer Institutes and professional learning sessions for the College Board, NC AP Partnership, NMSI, and state and regional education organizations. My workshops are known for being high-energy, practical, and immediately applicable, combining research-based pedagogy with classroom-tested strategies that teachers can use right away.
I design every session with intention: clear learning goals, responsive facilitation, and hands-on opportunities for teachers to experience what their students will feel. Whether I’m leading an APSI, an in-district workshop, or an online series, my goal is the same: to help educators strengthen student thinking, writing, and voice through purposeful, scaffolded instruction. But perhaps the best way to understand my work is through the teachers I’ve had the privilege to serve, so check out my Impact page for participant feedback to read it in their own words!
Teachers consistently describe my sessions as energizing, collegial, and immediately useful, and coordinators know me as a facilitator who is organized, flexible, and deeply invested in teacher success.
If you’re a PD director, site coordinator, or instructional leader looking for an engaging, experienced consultant for your next AP Summer Institute or literacy initiative, I’d love to connect.
